ATHENSA · Living Playlist Rules

Current working baseline

How the daily ATHENSA playlist is assembled.

The Telecasting Planner defines the intended program skeleton. Approved programs are resolved to media, operational exceptions are applied, and fillers are then fitted into the remaining gaps. These rules will evolve as the channel team adds more detail.

Source hierarchy

Planner first; exceptions must be explicit

The planner is the authority for intended fixed slots. The final playlist is the executed schedule and may include approved substitutions or special-day changes. Historical behaviour must never silently rewrite the planner.

1 · Planner

Read the target date

Extract intended start, allocation and program label.

2 · Resolver

Find approved media

Map the program label to an exact file, duration and NOW/NEXT names.

3 · Exceptions

Apply approved changes

Record substitutions, insertions, removals and special-day programming.

4 · Fillers

Fill the remaining gaps

Add bumpers, disclaimers, Murli Saar, hourly meditation and general fillers.

Program classes

Three visually different roles

Blue · EPSD

A fixed scheduled Episode, commonly allocated about 30 minutes. Its exact runtime may be shorter or longer.

Pink · Full Meditation

A scheduled full-length Meditation program such as Amritvela or the evening Meditation block. It is not an hourly meditation filler.

Default · Filler

Material placed around fixed programs: disclaimer, NOW/NEXT, short clips, Murli Saar, hourly themed meditation and other approved filler.

Program-name time slots

Intended times come from the planner. Actual starts can move slightly as fillers absorb the difference between allocated time and real media duration.

Filler baseline

Fillers are built around the fixed programs

Current filler types

  • Six-second disclaimer
  • Program-specific NOW/NEXT bumper, when available
  • Short general clips
  • Daily Murli Saar
  • Hourly themed meditation clip
  • Other approved short material

Flexibility rule

  • Fixed program slots have priority.
  • If a program runs long, fillers can be dropped.
  • If a matching NOW or NEXT bumper is unavailable, omit it; playlist creation must continue.
  • The hourly meditation may be omitted when space is short.
  • Murli Saar is movable and not tied to one exact point.
  • No universal filler ordering has been approved yet.

Timing behaviour

Planner time is intended time—not guaranteed second-level start

Recent real playlists show many programs beginning exactly on the intended boundary and many beginning roughly one to three minutes late. Fillers absorb the difference. This observed movement is not yet a formal tolerance limit.

Operational exceptions

Special programming must be recorded, not guessed

Historical playlists show insertions, removals and substitutions, especially on special days. The final playlist can differ from the planner, but every difference should have an explicit approved reason.

Current evidence: the latest reference playlist is structurally valid, totals approximately 24 hours and resolves all media paths. Several neighbouring playlists contain a small number of unresolved paths; those require correction before being called media-ready.
